Types of Commercial Refrigeration We Repair

Walk-in fridges and chill rooms

Large-capacity cold storage for kitchens, food manufacturers, and catering operations. Common faults include compressor failure, door seal deterioration, refrigerant leaks, and fan motor issues.

Display refrigerators and multideck units

Open-front display cases and closed glass-door fridges used in retail and food service. We diagnose temperature drift, evaporator icing, lighting faults, and condensate drain blockages.

Undercounter and prep fridges

Bench fridges and saladette units used in commercial kitchen prep lines. Fast diagnosis with same-day repair in most cases.

Chest and upright freezers

Commercial-grade freezers for long-term frozen storage. R290-certified engineers handle all refrigerant work on hydrocarbon-charged systems.

Blast chillers

Rapid chill-down equipment for cook-chill operations and food safety compliance. We service all major brands including Williams and Electrolux Professional.

Deli counters and serve-over displays

Refrigerated counters for butchers, delis, and food retail. Repairs include refrigerant top-ups, thermostat replacement, and condensate drain clearing.

Makeline refrigeration

Prep refrigeration units used in fast food and quick service restaurant operations. If your equipment is not listed, call us — our engineers carry extensive parts stock across all commercial refrigeration formats.

Common Faults We Diagnose and Fix

Temperature failure

The unit is not reaching or holding its set temperature. This can result from a faulty thermostat, a failing compressor, low refrigerant charge, or a blocked condenser coil.

Compressor failure

The compressor is the heart of any refrigeration unit. Signs include the unit running constantly, failing to cool, or making a loud clicking noise as it attempts to start. Compressor replacement or hard start kit installation are common remedies.

Refrigerant leaks

Loss of refrigerant (F-Gas) causes gradual performance decline and eventually complete failure to cool. Our engineers are Refcom F-Gas registered and carry equipment to test, recover, and recharge refrigerant safely in line with F-Gas regulations.

Condenser and evaporator coil icing

Excessive frost build-up on evaporator coils is typically caused by a faulty defrost timer, heater, or thermostat, or by a failing door seal allowing warm, moist air into the cabinet.

Electrical faults

Blown fuses, faulty PCB control boards, wiring failures, and failed fan motors are common in high-use commercial environments.

Door seal failures

Worn or torn door gaskets allow cold air to escape and warm air to enter, increasing energy consumption and reducing the unit’s ability to maintain safe temperatures.

Condenser blockages

Grease and dust accumulation on condenser coils reduces heat exchange efficiency and causes the unit to overwork, shortening compressor lifespan.

Our Repair Process

1. Same-day or next-day attendance

We prioritise emergency callouts. For critical breakdowns involving food safety risk, we aim for same-day attendance across Greater London.

2. On-site diagnosis

Our engineers carry diagnostic equipment to identify the root cause quickly — whether that’s a refrigerant leak test, electrical fault finding, or mechanical inspection.

3. Repair with genuine parts

We carry an extensive range of genuine replacement parts on our service vans — compressors, thermostats, fan motors, door seals, PCB boards, and refrigerant — to resolve most faults in a single visit.

4. F-Gas compliance

All refrigerant handling is carried out by Refcom-registered engineers in full compliance with F-Gas Regulation (EC) 842/2006. We issue F-Gas certificates for all refrigerant work.

5. Post-repair check and sign-off

Before leaving, our engineers verify that the unit is holding its correct temperature and that all electrical and mechanical components are functioning correctly.

Brands We Service

Foster, Williams, Gram

The UK’s most common commercial refrigeration brands. We hold extensive genuine parts stock for same-visit repairs across their full product ranges.

Polar, Lec Commercial, AHT, Tefcold, Interlevin
